Our new "Mother Nature's Seasoning" is a UK-made spice and herb blend, with red and black pepper-corns, onion, garlic, sea
salt (a reduced-sodium option
is also offered), and herbs. The fresh, slightly more subtle flavour and attractive appearance of Mother Nature's Seasoning
is ideally suitable for
lighter foods and is delicious for salads, fish, chicken (or maybe even dodo!), vegetables and pasta. It is also a great
addition to dips and salsa,
and delicious on fresh breads. It contains no artificial flavours or flavour-enhancers (like MSG). Click on the 'Mother
Nature' button above for further details or purchase.
Saffron comes from the dried stigmas of the purple saffron crocus (crocus sativus). It is available in different forms and
qualities -
threads or powdered. In powdered Saffron you might be buying other parts of the plant flower, white or yellow. Our Saffron
does not
contain any other part of the saffron plant, just the pure red stigmas, which contain ALL of the spice's aroma, flavour
and natural dye.
It's not cheap, but you will only need small quantities to get that fantastic aromatic flavour and gorgeous red/yellow
colour, with our Special offer
of a reduced price on our 1 gram sachets of saffron threads, you can now try out this fabulous spice for just £4.70.
With jars in the supermarket retailing at £3.50 for less than half that quantity, these one gram sachets are a real bargain.
Imagine, Lemons fresh from the tree, dried in the sun until black, and ground to a fine
powder. Traditionally used as a “rub” with Mutton. You can use it on roast Lamb, or grills,
BBQs, even casseroles. Our family has used it for years but I always had to bring it back from trips to the Middle East when
I was working there.
The lemon counteracts the fattiness of lamb and it gives it a really tangy edge.
Made from a blend of over a dozen delicate and subtle Eastern spices, this is traditionally used
with meat and/or vegetables as a spicy sauce whilst cooking, allowing the fragrance and flavours to
marinade into the food. Add some extra chilli and cumin for an eastern-style curry.
This herbal blend including Thyme, Sumach and Sesame Seed is another taste from the Middle East. Za'atar (Zaatar, Zatar, Zahtar)
Spice is very popular as a condiment for bread;
Traditionally used with Arabic Bread (a bit like Pitta, but thinner and round-shaped) but these days very popular as a
fill in Croissants.
You can also use it to 'spice up' Hummus, or even flavour meat in cooking.
